Josh Stein Moves to McCann Canada

Award-winning creative director to lead Toronto office creative department


TORONTO, CANADA (March 17, 2016) MacLaren McCann Canada today announced the appointment of Josh Stein as Executive Creative Director.  Overseeing the Toronto office creative department, Stein will report into Darren Clarke, Chief Creative Officer, McCann Canada, and will work across all clients and disciplines.

“Creative agencies are as good as the creative thinkers in the building, and today we’re adding one of the most talented in the country,” said Clarke.  “All of our clients have unique business challenges and the one thing they all expect is creative excellence.  Josh has an award-winning history of doing just that.”

Stein joins the agency from Tribal Worldwide where he was Executive Creative Director.  With more than 17 years of experience honed at top Canadian agencies, Stein has produced award-winning, notable campaigns for top clients including McDonald’s, Gillette, General Mills, Canadian Tire, General Motors, Google, Visa and Bank of Montreal.

“I was looking for a new challenge and after talking to Darren and hearing more about his vision and plans for the future, it was clear that this was a perfect fit,” said Stein.  “Not only is this a transformational opportunity but it is a chance in a million to be a part of something special and I am really excited about where we are headed.  Darren and I have a lot in common, but if you look at our work over the past couple years it’s clear we solve problems through a slightly different lens that our clients and teams are really going to benefit from.”

Well-recognized for his work, Stein has garnered both creative and effectiveness awards from international and national award shows, including Cannes, One Show, London International Awards, the EFFIES, Clios, the Webby Awards, Digital Marketing Awards and the Canadian Marketing Association (CMA) Awards.  In addition, he recently led Tribal to Digital Agency of the Year in 2015, and has helped other agencies reach the podium throughout his career.

Stein joins the Toronto office on May 2, 2016.
