McCann Worldgroup today announced the appointment of Simon Sikorski as the CEO of McCann Worldgroup Canada. Sikorski, most recently Chief Client Officer at McCann Worldgroup’s Craft production network and a former global client business leader at the agency, is replacing David Leonard.
Sikorski’s promotion is part of a broad leadership restructuring across McCann Worldgroup’s Canadian operations. The changes allow each agency to compete within their specialist offerings, while coming together as one integrated team for existing and prospective clients. As CEO, Sikorski will support all of McCann Worldgroup’s operations across the country including McCann, MRM//McCann, Craft, Momentum and McCann Health agencies in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Vancouver offices. He will work with all these McCann Worldgroup agencies to deliver market-leading initiatives that help brands play a meaningful role in Canadians’ lives. As part of the agency restructuring, McCann Worldgroup Canada’s Chief Creative Officer Darren Clarke and Chief Strategy Officer Mary Chambers are also leaving the reorganized agency group.
Chris Macdonald, Global President Advertising and Allied Agencies, McCann Worldgroup, said, “Canada is an incredibly important market for us and we believe there is massive opportunity for us to grow and develop our capabilities here. To do this, we have decided that we need to follow some of our biggest and most successful markets, like the UK, Spain and Japan, and move to a structure that gives our clients access to the best talent and the ability to better take advantage of our agencies (McCann, MRM//McCann, Craft, Momentum and McCann Health). This move aligns resources across each agency more effectively with each of their global structures for our clients. We thank David, Darren and Mary for all of their contributions to McCann over the years and we wish them well with their future plans.”
Under the new leadership structure each agency will be responsible to both the North America regional agency leader and to Sikorski as the country leader. Sikorski, who began his career in his native Canada working at both Toronto and Vancouver agencies, has worked in the advertising communications industry in both North America and Europe for over 25 years. In his most recent worldwide management role based in New York, he was part of a team that established Craft, McCann’s production agency, as a global leader in the execution and deployment of marketing campaigns. As the Chief Client Officer, Simon was responsible for working with clients like Mastercard, Microsoft, L’Oréal and Staples to develop bespoke advertising production solutions. Prior to joining Craft, Sikorski worked in the UK as a Managing Partner for McCann London, leading integrated agency teams for global brands like Intel and ExxonMobil.
Macdonald continued “Simon understands the complexities of our business today, the challenges facing clients and their need to connect with consumers to achieve growth in the marketplace. His experience in the Canadian market coupled with his deep understanding of the expertise and talent in each of the McCann Worldgroup agencies will provide us the kind of collaborative, energetic and insightful leadership that will help our clients achieve their objectives.”
