An internationally awarded strategist, Rideout will be based in the Toronto office, and will lead the Toronto team of multidisciplinary strategists.

Strategy is at the forefront of everything we do, so it was imperative that we have the right leadership in this critical role,” said David Leonard, CEO, McCann Canada. “As we continue to expand and diversify the strategy department, there is no doubt in my mind that Dustin is the perfect fit for our team and our culture. He not only has the right industry experience and successful track record, but his easygoing nature and natural ability to win over clients and employees alike, make him an invaluable addition to the team under Mary Chambers’ leadership as our national CSO.”

Having worked both agency and client side, Rideout has spent more than a decade in senior strategic roles at some of the leading agencies in Canada including Tribal DDB, Leo Burnett and as Partner and SVP, Strategy at SID LEE. Most recently he was at Maple Leaf Sport & Entertainment as Head of Brand and Fan Experience. Having worked with David in the past, we were both excited at the opportunity to work together again. Seeing the transformation here over the past year, along with the forward momentum the agency is experiencing at home and around the globe was the tipping point for me. McCann’s focus on meaningful creative ideas that generate results resonates with me and I wanted to part of it,” said Rideout. “I’m looking forward to partnering with the incredible creative talent of Darren Clarke and Josh Stein, who’s work I have admired for many years.”

The addition of Rideout follows a number of high caliber talent and new business wins since the beginning of the year. These include Matt Lewis, who took charge of Momentum (the agency’s brand experience team) as Managing Director, Josh Stein who joined as ECD, Toronto, Calvin Daniels as SVP, Managing Director, Commonwealth//McCann and George Panopoulos the new President of MRM//McCann.

Rideout’s first day with the agency was on May 16, 2017.
